BREWER – A Brewer couple and a Houlton man were jailed early Thursday morning after a disagreement over a woman turned into a melee on Summer Street.

Christopher Marceau, 27, of Brewer was charged with terrorizing and assault, and Reubin Hardy, 27, of Houlton and Crystal Marceau, 30, of Brewer were each charged with disorderly conduct.

Police were called to 9 Summer St. just before 1 a.m., Brewer police Cpl. Roger Hershey said. Brewer officers Paul Gauvin and John Knappe arrived to find Christopher Marceau standing in the doorway of the home yelling inside. As police were leaving their vehicle, Hardy walked out the door and was punched by Christopher Marceau.

The two men yelled at each other and were separated by police, Hershey said. As the officers were dealing with the men, Crystal Marceau and another woman left the building, pushing and yelling at each other.

Knappe attempted to separate the two women when Crystal Marceau attacked him, Hershey said. When Knappe pushed the woman away she fell to the ground and Hardy then grabbed Knappe from behind. Brewer police Officer Dave Ward pulled Hardy off Knappe.

Hardy and the Marceaus were taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor and were later released on bail. All three will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Jan. 10.

The fight had begun earlier in the evening at a Bangor bar when Hardy and Christopher Marceau got into a confrontation over Crystal Marceau, Hershey said. That confrontation continued at the Marceaus’ Summer Street home. The second woman, Hardy’s girlfriend, was not charged.

Crystal Marceau resisted guards at the jail and was injured, Hershey said. She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where she was treated and later released, and then summoned to appear in court for disorderly conduct.

The extent of Crystal Marceau’s injuries were not immediately available.

Correction: Christopher Marceau, 36, of Brewer was not taken from his home to the Penobscot County Jail as reported in a story on page B2 of some editions of the Friday, Nov. 22, newspaper. He was summoned on charges of terrorizing and assault but was not arrested.
