In an effort to promote shopping in the Katahdin region towns of Millinocket, East Millinocket and Medway, the Millinocket Area Growth and Investment Council is sponsoring a “Parade of Businesses” contest.

Bruce McLean, MAGIC’s executive director, said residents and nonresidents could win prizes for shopping at the most participating businesses in the three towns during the week of Nov. 25.

“We are trying to promote shopping locally,” said McLean. “Anyone can participate.”

McLean wants shoppers also to keep a list of items they can’t buy locally. He said the list would be shared with businesses, and asks them to help supply the items.

To enter, shoppers must pick up a “Parade of Business” card at any of the 32 participating area businesses. Cards must be signed by the respective store manager or employee at each place the person shops and then must be returned to the East Branch Sno-Rovers by 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. A wide range of prizes valued at more than $500 will be awarded.
