PATTEN – The Patten Lumbermen’s Museum has received a $600 grant from the Cultural Resources Information Center, Maine State Archives and Maine State Museum. This matching grant will allow the museum to hire a conservator to visit the museum in order to evaluate the condition of its five dioramas.
The dioramas measure approximately 25 feet by 6 feet and depict a winter logging operation in the horse era.
Ronald S. Harvey of Tuckerbrook Conservation in Lincolnville will spend a day at the museum in the spring. Information gathered during his visit ultimately will lead to the complete restoration of these cultural exhibits.
