Player of the Week

COLLEGE

NICK PELOTTE

Plymouth State sophomore guard Nick Pelotte of Bingham opened the first week of the basketball season as the Little East Confernce’s Player of the Week after averaging 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in two games as the Panthers won the UMaine-Farmington Tournament.

NICK CASAVANT

Presque Isle’s Nick Casavant was named the Little East Conference’s rookie of the week after averaging 10.5 points and shooting 50 percent from 3-point range for the University of Southern Maine basketball team in two tournament losses.

JULIA KNIGHTS

Maine Maritime Academy freshman Julia Knight was named the North Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Knights, from Woodland, averaged 14.5 points per game in Maine Maritime’s two loses.

Knights was also named the Maine Women’s Basketball Association Rookie of the Week.

JED JOHNSON

Maine Maritime Academy senior Jed Johnson was awarded the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Johnson, who attended Lawrence High School, averaged 22.5 points per game in Maine Maritime’s two wins.

SARAH WALSH

Colby senior Sarah Walsh was named the Colby Tournament MVP for Women’s Basketball. Walsh averaged 25.5 points per game, 15 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in Colby wins.

Walsh was also named the NESCAC Player of the week and the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week.

NICK BAYLEY

Colby sophomore Nick Bayley was named NESCAC Player of the Week for Men’s Hockey. Bayley had four goals and four assists in two Colby wins over the weekend.
