BANGOR – City councilors this week approved plans to purchase a parcel on Dutton Street from Erin Inc., which owns a chain of Holiday Inns, including one on Main Street.

According to the council order to that end, the city will buy the property, located behind the Irving Mainway on Main Street to allow for the expansion of the Bass Park Complex. The purchase price is $650,000.

The purchase agreement stipulates that Erin Inc. apply $300,000 of the sale proceeds to upgrading its Holiday Inn property on Main Street. Plans call for a real estate closing on or before Dec. 15.
