BANGOR – Penobscot County Area Triad, an organization composed of senior citizens and law enforcement officers working together to protect senior citizens from fraud, is in the process of posting Triad signs in key locations in Bangor, Brewer, Old Town and Orono. The signs are intended to put scam artists on notice that fraudulent activities in those towns will not be tolerated, and that those who commit fraud will be prosecuted.

Triad’s mission is to educate and inform senior citizens and others about telemarketing and door-to-door scams.

Triad member Marion Russell of Bangor designed the signs, and Caron Signs of Bangor manufactured them.

Agencies participating in the Triad program are AARP, the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services, Eastern Agency on Aging, Legal Services for the Elderly, Maine Retired Teachers Association, Bangor-Brewer Housing Authority, Maine District 5 Police Chief’s Association, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department, Phillips-Strickland House, RSVP, Hammond Street Senior Center and Ellen M. Leach Memorial Home.
