The World Church of the Creator maintains that it does not tolerate violence or illegal activity. But the Anti-Defamation League has documented the following violent and criminal behavior by the group’s followers:

. The beating of a black man and his son in August 1997. The group’s Southeast regional director pleaded guilty to trying to intimidate a witness.

. Four members pleaded guilty to hate-crime conspiracy charges in Florida stemming from a March 1998 armed robbery. The indictment said the defendants believed it was “permissible to steal from ‘Jews.'”

. Two brothers who had the group’s literature in their home were charged with the July 1999 double murder of a gay couple in California. They’re also facing trial for the 1999 arson of three synagogues.

. In August 2000, two members arrested in upstate New York with a carload of guns and ammunition were allegedly en route to a firearms training session.

. People linked to the Church of the Creator, the group’s precursor, were convicted of bomb plots and the murder of a black man. Others were arrested on charges of plotting to instigate a race war in Los Angeles.
