Bangor company gets federal research grant

BANGOR – The National Science Foundation has awarded nearly $100,000 to Transpose LLC of Bangor to research the feasibility of an innovative technique for maintaining, evaluating and using documents within large organizations, such as businesses and government agencies.

The project is intended to study information theoretic techniques underlying current technology; to evaluate the possibilities for expanding the technology’s scope; and to demonstrate these concepts, according to U.S. Rep. John Baldacci, who announced the grant. It will produce technical papers describing results and providing proof for their feasibility.

Ultimately, it is hoped that this research will enable people within organizations to gain easier access to relevant information and greater capacity for using it. This should enhance efficiency and effectiveness in corporations, academic institutions and government agencies.
