Corbin basket gives Crusaders 2-point win

VAN BUREN – Mike Corbin hit his only field goal of the game with eight seconds remaining to lift the Van Buren to a 54-52 boys basketball victory over Central Aroostook of Mars Hill Friday night.

Fabian Beuchler led Van Buren with 14 points. Tyler Lapierre notched 11.

Byron Grew led all scorers with 22 points for the Panthers of Mars Hill. Andrew York chipped in with 12.

Houlton’s Mark Socoby sent the game into overtime when he nailed a 3-pointer with three seconds left.

John Saucier paced Orono with 14 points while Lance Cowan and Jeff Miller each added 13. Mike Socoby netted 10.

Mark Socoby nailed six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points for Houlton. Erik O’Connell added 10 points.
