LAKE LOUISE, Alberta – Hilde Gerg finally came through at Lake Louise. The German picked up her first victory on the course after four runner-up finishes, winning the season’s first World Cup downhill Friday. Kirsten Clark of Raymond was third.
Gerg, who won a super-G race last week at Aspen, clocked 1 minute, 33.72 seconds. Olympic champion Carole Montillet of France was second Friday in 1:33.92. Clark’s time was 1:34.05.
