ORRINGTON – The Rev. Robert Carlson will deliver his last sermon as pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church on Sunday. The congregation also will burn its $500,000 30-year mortgage, which it was able to pay off in seven years, according to the retiring pastor.

ORRINGTON – The Rev. Robert Carlson will deliver his last sermon as pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church on Sunday.

The congregation also will burn its $500,000 30-year mortgage, which it was able to pay off in seven years, according to the retiring pastor.

Carlson is leaving after 23 years at the church to take a job as full-time chaplain at Husson College in Bangor. He plans continue his work as chaplain to area law enforcement agencies and fire departments and at the Penobscot County Jail.

The Rev. Adam Soderberg, who has served as assistant pastor, will become pastor.
