MACHIAS – The University of Maine at Machias will sponsor a class on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and meditation during the spring semester.

The class will be taught by Buddhist monk Geshe Lobzang Tsetan, in collaboration with Tom Halkett, UMM assistant professor of philosophy, and Dana Sawyer, adjunct professor of Asian religion at Bangor Theological Seminary.

The class will explore the historical and cultural context from which Tibetan Buddhism arose, as well as the ethical and philosophical views of contemporary practice, through lectures, discussion, films and meditation practice.

Registration is occurring now. The course may be taken for one or three credits. To register, call the UMM registrar’s office at 255-1200.
