Tonya Cray, Jocelyn Sawyer
Tonya Cray of Thomas College and Jocelyn Sawyer of the University of Maine at Farmington have been selected as Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association players of the week. Cray, a junior center, had 37 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s game and averaged 19.2 points per game. Sawyer, a senior forward, averaged 14.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2 blocks for the week.
Sarah Davis, Essie McKinnon
Sara Davis of Husson College and Essie McKinnon of the University of New England have been chosen as Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association rookies of the week. Davis averaged 9.7 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3.3 steals in a three-game week. McKinnon averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds, scoring a game-high 178 points in a win over St. Joseph’s.
Heather Ernest
Heather Ernest of the Maine women’s basketball team has been named the Wilson player of the week. Ernest scored 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for her first double-double this season in a win over Rhode Island.
Tonya Cray
Tonya Cray, a junior center at Thomas College has been selected as the Webber Energy player of the week. She scored a career high 37 points and had 10 rebounds in a two-point loss to Lyndon State.
Hannah Socoby
Hannah Socoby, a guard on the University of Maine at Farmington women’s basketball team has been named Webber Energy rookie of the week. Socoby averaged nine points, three rebounds and three assists per game in a 4-0 week.
Dwayne Alley
Dwayne Alley of Husson College has been named Webber Energy player of the week. Alley, a junior guard, averaged 18 points per game in a 3-0 week, scoring 27 points in a win over UMFK.
Travis Magnusson
Travis Magnusson of the UM-Farmington men’s basketball team has been chosen as a Webber Energy rookie of the week. He averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 assists in a 3-1 week.
Jimmy Howard
Jimmy Howard, goaltender for the University of Maine men’s hockey team, has been named Hockey East defensive player of the week. Howard made 32 saves in a 4-2 victory over Harvard and held them scoreless on five power play opportunities.
