Schenck trips up Cougars Deschenes key in Schenck win

SHERMAN STATION – Ryan Deschenes poured in 27 points and made crucial free throws in the final minutes of the game to help lead the Schenck Wolverines to a 75-73 schoolboy basketball win over the Katahdin Cougars Tuesday night.

Aaron Watie added 15 points for the Wolverines while Mark Hannington helped out with 14.

Brian Sullivan led Katahdin with 28 points while Thomas Rodgerson contributed with 17 points.

At Dexter, Harper Hoffman scored four of his team’s 10 points in overtime to lift Piscataquis Community of Guilford to the win.

PCHS rallied from a five-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to tie it at 58 at the end of the regulation.

Hoffman paced the winners with 22 points while Josh Luellen added 13 and Tyler Tracy put in 12.

Eric Day led the Tigers with 21 points, Travis Patterson chipped in with 16 and Sam Bowers had 12.
