War leads to more war

I appreciated the publication of Mike Howard’s commentary in the Dec. 13 issue of the Bangor Daily News titled, “Speaking out for peace is patriotic.” His words echo those of former president and now Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter, challenging the world, particularly the United States, to realize that war only leads to more war. We need to hear and read more sane voices like this as our president and his administration continue to push blindly toward a great disaster, not only for Iraq, but for us and for the world. When will history stop repeating itself?
