Man who had gun during Bush visit freed

ALFRED – A Sanford man who had a loaded gun in his car at Sanford Regional Airport on the day President Bush arrived last summer will not serve any additional jail time.

Christopher Willey’s two-day jail term included credit for time he already served after his arrest July 5, the day the president traveled to Maine for a weekend with his parents.

Willey was sentenced and fined $500 after he pleaded guilty two weeks ago to having a loaded firearm in his vehicle.

Police said Willey was on a road authorities had closed in preparation for the president’s arrival at Sanford Regional Airport. They found a loaded 9 mm handgun inside Willey’s car.
