OLD ORCHARD BEACH – An Old Orchard Beach man, originally charged with attempted murder, rape and kidnapping in the assault of a woman, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Rick E. Gaudet, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Wednesday, was sentenced in York County Superior Court. The other charges are expected to be dismissed, court clerks said.

Justice Paul Fritzsche sentenced Gaudet to five years but suspended all but 18 months of the sentence.

He also ordered Gaudet to serve four years of probation in which he must stay away from the victim, surrender knives and dangerous weapons, and attend anger management counseling.
