Hoffman scores 14 as Pirates slip past Wolverines

EAST MILLINOCKET – Harper Hoffman tossed in 14 points to help the Piscataquis Pirates of Guilford edge the Schenck Wolverines 52-50 in schoolboy basketball action Saturday.

Tyler Tracy added 13 points for the winner and Josh Luellan scored 10.

Ryan Deschenes sparked Schenck with 16.

At Houlton’s Millar Arena, freshman left wing Ian Pasquarelli’s slipped the puck between goalie Spencer Lahaie’s pads off a partial breakaway 30 seconds into overtime to give Houlton-Hodgdon its first-ever win over Gardiner.

Jared Sylvia scored three goals and had two assists, Pasquarelli had a pair of goals and two assists, and Tyler Hutchinson had the other goal for 4-1 Houlton-Hodgdon. Chris Joslyn, Mitch Hall, Kevin Carton, and Andy Clark each had an assist, and Nick Joslyn made 25 saves.

Dino Grimaldi had two goals for 2-2 Gardiner and Ryan Jean had a goal and two assists. Shawn Kelley had a goal and an assist, and Scott Moulton had the other goal. Justin Lebourdais had a pair of assists with Ken Jackson and Ben Kramer notching one each. Spencer Lahaie finished with 16 saves.

Presque Isle 5, Old Town 0

At Presque Isle, Trevor Graves scored four goals for the Wildcats and Joe Flenner added a goal. Derek Demerchant, Sam Shaw, Benji Lynch, Rye Cyr, and Brad Baker each had an assist. Sean Daigle stopped all 21 shots that he saw for 3-2 Presque Isle.

J.P. Stowe and Chris Rand combined to make 27 saves on 32 shots for Old Town.

Brewer 4, Mount Ararat 2

At Brewer, Robbie Hayes knocked in three goals and Josh Kochis dished out two assists to power the unbeaten Witches.

Josh Caldwell added a goal for 5-0 Brewer, and Will Prescott and Jeremiah Richter each had an assist. Spencer Dunbar had 23 saves on 25 shots.

Drew Erickson and Mark Rodgers each had a goal for the 3-2 Eagles of Topsham. Jesse Snider provided two assists, and Jordan Martin stopped 23 of 27 shots.

JV: Mount Ararat 2-1

Hampden 8, Foxcroft 0

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Kevin Brooks scored three goals and Greg Taylor added two more as the Broncos rolled past the Ponies.

Steve Boutin, Adam Stanley, and Chris Stanley also scored goals for 3-0 Hampden, and Garrett Macgowan turned away 15 shots.

Dan Perkins made 29 saves on 37 shots for 0-2 Foxcroft Academy.
