BANGOR – Two Old Town High School seniors injured in a motor vehicle accident in Old Town on Dec. 12 remained hospitalized at Eastern Maine Medical Center on Monday night.

Nathan Gates remained in critical condition and Sean Kinch was listed in serious condition. Both of the 18-year-olds reportedly have been listed in serious or critical conditions at various periods since the accident. No further details were available.

Gates and Kinch were injured when the Ford Escort driven by Gates backed out of a driveway onto Route 16 and directly into the path of a tractor-trailer loaded with wood chips. Gates and Kinch were riding on the driver’s side of the car.

Two other passengers, Stephen Gomm of Milford and Gabriel Wood of Alton, both 18, were dead at the scene. They both had been on the passenger’s side of the Escort. The driver of the truck, 46-year-old Kenneth Kealiher of Brewer, was not injured.
