BANGOR – Robert Murray Jr., a local lawyer and former state legislator, has been nominated to lead the Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation.
Gov.-elect John E. Baldacci nominated Murray, 43, to the post, which would have him oversee regulation in many fields, from financial institutions to pharmacies, from elevators to insurance.
Murray is a partner in the Bangor firm of Rudman and Winchell, but would sever ties with the law firm if confirmed to the state post. The son of the late Robert and Laura Murray, he resides in Bangor with his wife and two children.
