Wilfred R. Leighton of Buxton has been named president and chief operating officer of UniTek Inc. The company operates or shares in the operation of two lines of businesses within the telecommunications industry: UniTel, a local, independent telephone company in Unity; and UniPage, a paging business operating under the name Northeast Paging, or NEP, in Maine and UCOM in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Leighton has 41 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including more than 22 years working in financial management capacities for independent telephone companies in Maine. He joined UniTel in 1996 as chief financial officer and finance project manager to oversee UniTel and UniTek’s corporate finances. Leighton will continue to serve as chief financial officer and director of UniTek, UniTel and UniPage. He provides executive financial management and oversees all corporate financial planning, administration of corporate assets and investments, and planning for UniTek and its subsidiaries.

Laurie Osgood of Belfast has been named president and chief operating officer of UniTel, succeeding Coral B. Clifford, who had held the position since the death of her husband, Bert G. Clifford, in August 2001. Coral B. Clifford will remain as treasurer and will continue to serve on UniTel’s board of directors. Osgood, a native of Knox and a 1980 graduate of Mount View High School in Thorndike, has been with the company for 17 years, holding key management posts in information technology, customer relations and project management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of Maine. In her new capacity, Osgood is responsible for all operations at UniTel, including personnel, budgeting, short- and long-term strategic planning, and operational execution. She also serves as a director on the board for UniTel and its parent company, UniTek.

Lynn M. Thibeau of Bangor has joined Bangor Savings Bank’s subsidiary, Bangor Securities, as a financial consultant. With experience as a trust officer at Bar Harbor Bankshares, Thibeau will service the western and northern regions of the state. She holds both a bachelor’s degree in music degree and a master’s in business administration from the University of Maine. Active in her community, Thibeau is treasurer of the Junior League of Bangor.
