BUCKSPORT – Jen Murauckas scored 10 of her 14 points from the foul line as the Golden Bucks got their first girls basketball win of the season with a 36-33 decision over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill Saturday.

Alice Andrews added 10 points for Bucksport.

Sara Beardsworth led the Eagles of Blue Hill with nine.

At Caribou, Lindsey Burlock scored six of her game-high 24 points in the overtime, which never would have happened had Amy Pushard not nailed a three-pointer with five seconds left to tie the score at 47. The Vikes then outscored the Rams 15-8 in the extra session.

Burlock also hit 14 free throws for Caribou. Leah Drew connected for 16 points, and Pushard finished with 11.

Alyssa Odgen led the way for Bangor with 18 points, and Erin Porter added 10.

At Waterville, Aaron Buzzell notched his first varsity shutout, stopping all 22 shots he faced to give the Rams a win in the consolation round of the Waterville Holiday Tourney.

Kevin Cobb and Ben Payson each had an unassisted goal for Bangor.

Pierre Salvas made 16 saves against 18 shots for Spaulding High of Vermont.

Orono 6, John Bapst 4

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Tom Smythe scored had a hat trick to lead the Red Riots past John Bapst of Bangor.

Travis Bryant had two goals and an assist, Evan Jones had a goal and an assist, Dylan Huckstein dished out four assists, and Joe Fullwood had two assists for the 3-4 Red Riots. Anthony Hedstrom made 22 saves on 26 shots.

Zac Grenier scored twice for the 0-5 Crusaders. Colby Therriault and David Sawyer each had a goal and an assist. Brian Leighton assisted on two goals. Jamie Hardy and Dan Leighton combined to make 25 saves on 31 shots.
