Layne’s 17 points lift Houghton over Braves

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Angela Layne scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Houghton to a 56-44 women’s basketball victory over Husson College Monday afternoon.

Casandra Mills and Katie Packard each added 10 points for the winners.

Jenn Comeau and Holly Gracie each scored nine points for Husson.

At Salem State, Mass., the Vikings outscored the White Mules of Waterville 35-29 in the second half to rally for the win in their Christmas tourney.

Kelli Reardon paced the winners with 14 points and Gillian Almeida added 13.

Sarah Walsh led Colby with 18 points and Bianca Belcher chipped in with 15 points and four assists. Wendy Bonner grabbed 11 rebounds.
