EMMC doctors form vascular surgery group

BANGOR – Eastern Maine Medical Center has announced that Dr. Terrance K. Fournier, and Dr. Larry D. Flanagan are joining Dr. John “Jeb” Hallett, in the formation of Vascular Surgery of Maine, located on the campus of EMMC. Drs. Fournier and Flanagan are board-certified vascular surgeons who have been practicing in Bangor for many years.

Dr. Hallett comes to Bangor from the Mayo Clinic, where he served as co-director of the Mayo Vascular Center. He is board-certified in vascular surgery and is a clinical professor at Tufts Medical School.

Vascular Surgery of Maine is the primary physician resource for EMMC’s new Vascular Care of Maine, which officials said will provide one-stop service for patients with circulatory disease. The resource offers a wide range of programs and board-certified professionals including vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, podiatrists and physical medicine specialists.

Cardiology consultations are available for patients who have both vascular and heart disease. Officials said that Vascular Care of Maine is EMMC’s response to the epidemic of circulatory disease in Maine, which studies show, is largely due to smoking and obesity.

In addition to improved patient access, more efficient and streamlined scheduling and technological innovations, Vascular Care of Maine is designed to be a healing environment.
