Glad Tidings Church to celebrate its past, future

BANGOR – Glad Tidings Church at 1033 Broadway will offer a different schedule of services at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, for that day only. The public is invited to attend the event.

Senior Pastor Ron Morris will celebrate “The Past, Present and Future” of Glad Tidings Church. The 10 a.m. service will feature a torch ceremony.

Remembrances of the first days of the church as a Pentecostal Assembly under its leader, the Rev. Clifford Crabtree, and continuing down to the present time, will be included. There will be memories, music and inspiration. Lisa J. Dearing will direct the choir.

Dinner and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall will follow at noon.

The celebration continues at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with more music and a talk by the Rev. Ron Morris titled “Unfolding the Vision.” Future plans for Glad Tidings Church will be revealed, along with news of the many changes and new programs taking place in various departments.

The Pentecostal Assembly was founded in 1923 beginning with open-air meetings. During the 50 years that followed, several buildings in Bangor served as meeting places. In 1973 land was purchased on outer Broadway and a new church was built. The first service was held in the new building on Dec. 31, 1975.
