BANGOR – A Bangor woman suffered minor injuries after she was rear-ended by a car driven by a Bangor woman while traveling south on Harlow Street on Thursday afternoon.

Iolanta Bidermaine, 34, of Bar Harbor had been stopped in traffic just before 1:30 p.m. when 89-year-old Roberta E. Smith struck the rear bumper of Bidermaine’s car with her white 1988 Subaru, Bangor police Officer Butch Moor said. Smith then drove onto the sidewalk and struck a barrier pole near the federal building.

Smith complained of head pain but was treated and released at the scene of the accident, Moor said. Bidermaine was not injured. Both women had been wearing their seat belts.

Damage to Bidermaine’s white 1993 Toyota was estimated at $1,000, and the car was driven away. Smith’s Subaru, however, had more than $2,000 in damage.
