Benefit breakfast in Belfast

On behalf of the Peer Leadership Program at Belfast Area High School, senior Emily Viscone invites you to attend a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the school on Waldo Avenue in Belfast.

Admission is $5 per person. Proceeds benefit Waldo County Transportation Service.

While this is the first time the program has raised funds for this community agency, Viscone said it has conducted fund-raisers for other organizations in the past. The public is encouraged to attend and help Belfast High students help others.

Bonnie Whitney, activity director for Sunbury Village in Bangor, writes that the facility is holding a free presentation, “Memory, Aging and Alzheimer’s,” at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Sunbury Village, 922 Ohio St., Bangor.

The presentation, sponsored by the Maine Alzheimer’s Association, is free and open to the public.

If you’ve not visited this facility before, this is a wonderful reason to do so.

Now that the holidays are over and you’re looking through your holiday cards once more before throwing them away, STOP!

Somebody wants them!

Marie Loring of Greenbush uses old holiday cards to make ornaments for Christmas trees, and she sure would appreciate it if you sent her any cards you no longer need or want to keep.

Used cards can be sent to Loring at 775 Main Road, Greenbush 04418.

If you wish, let Loring know the amount of postage you would like refunded and she will send it to you.
