Kennebunk man killed when car is broadsided

DAYTON – A motorist was killed when his car collided with a sport utility vehicle Wednesday, authorities said.

Jason Boyne, 31, of Kennebunk, lost control of his Volkswagen convertible on a curve and skidded into the path of the SUV at 7:55 a.m., according to the York County Sheriff’s Department. Boyne died instantly when his car was struck broadside by the larger SUV, the department said.

The other driver, Ralph E. Hiltz, 53, of Saco was taken to the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford for treatment of minor injuries.

Hiltz was wearing a seat belt and his air bag deployed; Boyne, who was partially ejected, was not wearing a seat belt, deputies said.
