LOCKEPORT, Nova Scotia – A fire forced two fishermen to abandon their boat Thursday off Nova Scotia’s south shore.

The men aboard the vessel Our Mac were picked up by another boat, Little Razz, said a spokesman with the Canadian Coast Guard.

Little Razz took the men to shore at Lockeport.

There were no immediate details about the cause of the blaze.

A Coast Guard cutter was sent to check out Our Mac, which was about 15 miles off Lockeport when it caught fire.

By late Thursday morning, Our Mac had sunk, officials said. There were six fuel tanks aboard the vessel, but there was no sign of any slicks.

The Coast Guard crew also removed large debris from the water.
