Merrill and Paul among Hall inductees

Brunswick High graduate and former New York Yankee manager Carl “Stump” Merrill was one of five coaches recently elected to the Maine Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Merrill played professional ball in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He has coached in the Yankees organization for over 25 years, and is currently the skipper for Double A Eastern League affiliate Trenton.

Other inductees include longtime Westbrook and Biddeford coach Roger “Mickey” Dolan, Skowhegan’s Don Finley, Rupe Johnson, and Old Town’s David Paul, who played American Legion baseball for Merrill in 1975.
