This letter is in response to Alan Parks’ letter titled, “Lott should quit Senate,” published in the Bangor Daily News on Jan. 10. I agree that Sen. Lott should resign from the Senate and take his racial beliefs with him.
Parks phrases the letter in such a way to state that all Republicans are racist. What does one have to do with the other? I know plenty of Republicans who aren’t racist. Does Gen. Colin Powell know that he is a racist? If not, I am sure Parks will be sure to let him know.
Parks makes a general statement about a particular group of people, like Sen. Lott did, and then seems to think the majority of Republicans are the same way. I am not a registered Republican, but if I were, I would hold no ill will toward Parks because he was a registered Democrat.
