MATT BURNS

Burns, a junior on the Ellsworth wrestling team, won his 100th career match. He is the first junior in the school’s history to reach the 100-win total. Burns wrestles in the 140-pound weight class. He is the state runner-up at 128 pounds.

Small School (Classes C-D)

DEREK DIFREDERICO

DiFrederico, a junior on the Stearns of Millinocket boys basketball team, scored 17 points against Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln on Jan. 7, 17 against Piscataquis of Guilford on Jan. 9 and 32 points against Houlton last Saturday. The Minutemen won all three games

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

MINDY MORNEAULT

Morneault, a sophomore guard-forward on the Fort Kent basketball team, scored 17 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Warriors held off Hodgdon 51-47 Saturday. In a game against Van Buren Friday she put in 19 points, including four 3-pointers, en route to a 51-43 win. Fort Kent is 7-4.

Small School (Classes C-D)

SHELBY PICKERING

The Lee sophomore forward racked up 22 points and 22 rebounds in a 48-35 upset of previously undefeated Woodland Thursday. She also scored 15 points against Bangor Christian Saturday for the 9-2 Pandas.
