Haskell, Watson power EMTC win

FAIRFIELD – Jesse Haskell led five players in double figures with 20 points and Daryl Watson dished out 20 assists as Eastern Maine Technical College of Bangor upended Kennebec Valley Technical College 95-39 in a men’s college basketball game Wednesday night.

Kris Douglas scored 16 points, Brandon Miller and Jamie Alley had 11 apiece and Doug Rodgerson scored 10 points.

Nate Lake’s 14 points and Brian Sousa’s nine led KVTC.

At Machias, Gary Dussard poured in 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to spark the University of Maine-Machias’ Clippers to its victory over the University of Maine-Farmington Wednesday night.

Chujor Chujor had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Phillip Munro also had 13 points, and Wayne Clark added 10.

James Malley led five Beavers in double figures with 18 points. Steve Ginn chipped in with 13, Trafton Teague and Lon Drillen notched 12 apiece, and Travis Magnusson had 11.

At Waterville, Matt Clement scored a game-high 23 points and Jed Johnson added 22 points and a game-high 14 rebounds as Maine Maritime Academy erased a seven-point deficit with five minutes to play to force the overtime.

Then the Mariners outscored the Mules 11-6 in the extra session to collect the victory.

Jon Newland and B.J. Dunlap had 13 points apiece for the Mariners and Newland dished out a game-high nine assists.

MMA went 19-32 from the free throw line while Colby went 2-3.

Colby had beaten Bowdoin in double overtime on Tuesday night.

Kevin Crosman and Jared Cushman had 15 points apiece for Colby and Crosman grabbed 12 rebounds. Patrick McGowan scored 12 points and Michael Westbrooks and Mike Rutherford each had eight rebounds. Nick Loukes had four assists.

At Machias, Gill Guest scored a game-high 22 points, including 13 in the second half, and also hauled down 18 rebounds as UM-Machias avenged a 44-point blowout suffered at the hands of the University of Maine-Farmington last month.

Kelly Welles contributed 12 points and Sara Ricker added 11 to go with five assists.

Jocelyn Sawyer’s 13 points, Megan Woodcock’s 11 points and four assists and Cheryl Kempton’s nine points topped UM-Farmington.
