MILLINOCKET – Claude Martin of Millinocket, a retiree of Great Northern Paper Inc., successfully came through abdominal surgery Thursday and is recovering at home.
“I’m doing all right now,” Martin, 58, said in a telephone interview late Thursday. “I’m laying back in my recliner.” He expects to spend the next four to six weeks recuperating.
Martin’s medical plight gained notice because of the insurance dilemma the bankruptcy of GNP presented. No one is sure who will end up paying the estimated $10,000 cost of his operation, which was performed at Millinocket Regional Hospital.
