EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Air Force officials are investigating the death of a 21-year-old airman from Maine whose body was discovered outside a base dormitory, authorities said.
Airman First Class Jesse N. Kimball of Buckfield was found Saturday afternoon on an exterior stairwell landing, base officials said.
“This is still very early in the investigation and we’re not going to make any assumptions until we can determine the cause of death,” said 2nd Lt. James Madeiros, a base spokesman.
Base officials did not immediately return a call seeking additional comment Monday.
It was not known whether Kimball was a resident at the dormitory outside which his body was found.
Kimball had been in the Air Force for two years and was a weapons load crew chief in the 40th Flight Test Squadron, officials said.
The Air Force office of Special Investigations and base police are investigating the death, said Madeiros, who would not say whether foul play was suspected.
