AUGUSTA – The Rockland cheerleading team picked up its seventh straight Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B cheerleading championship at Monday morning’s competition at the Augusta Civic Center.
The Tigers scored 79 points while Oxford Hills of South Paris, another perennial contender, tallied 74 points to earn its 10th KVAC Class A title in the last 11 years.
Oak Hill of Sabattus was the Class B runner-up with 69 points, and Gardiner had 73 points to finish second in the Class A competition.
Rockland’s team members are Jaime Fogg, Beth Allen, Lindsey Appleby, Heather Brown, Charissa Cayouette, Trevor Davis, Dianne Grade, Matthew Haj, Stacia Matthews, Jesse Passmore, Sean Curtain, Melissa Leiter, Bri Thivierge, Dean Hale, Ryan Curtain, and Gretchen Appleby.
Oxford Hills’ team members are Cara Brown, Kelley Groves, Shelby Stevens, Michele Bisbee, Hannah Austin, Drew Ayotte, Carina Brown, Ashley Courington, Karley Estes, Shannon Martin, Leona Merk, Randi Arsenault, Melissa Brown, Aly Demers, Jill Larravee, Victoria Linscott, Dylan Smith, Mandi Stetson, and Kimmie Stetson.
Winslow, Erskine of South China, and Lincoln Academy of Newcastle also made callbacks for the Class B competition. Leavitt of Turner, Mt. Blue of Farmington, Lawrence of Fairfield, and Cony of Augusta were called back to the final round in Class A.
Each team performed its routine in the first round. The top half of the teams then performed in the final round.
