Crusaders pick up 13th win

LIMESTONE – Fabian Deuchler poured in 23 points as the undefeated Van Buren boys basketball team earned a 53-41 win over Limestone Wednesday in high school action.

Jeremy Chasse added 10 points for the Crusaders.

Josh Poisson paced the Eagles with 13 points.

GHCA went 27-for-32 from the line overall. Farrar finished with 18 points for Greater Houlton Christian and Scott Duff had a game-high 20. Matt Hathaway added 18.

David Smith led Ashland with 12 points and Brent Austin put in 11.

At Lee, Gerry Worster nailed a driving layup with 50 seconds remaining to give the Pandas a lead for good.

Jeremy Tripp hit a 3-pointer a minute earlier to give Lee a 53-51 lead, its first since the first quarter. The Cougars’ Tom Rodgerson then answered with a basket of his own to knot the score at 53. After Worster’s hoop, he and Tripp each sunk a pair of clutch free throws to ice the game.

Neil Cowan led Lee with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Worster finished with 12. Kris King netted 13 points, and Jason Mallett hauled down 12 rebounds.

Tom Rodgerson had six 3-pointers and ended up with a game-high 26 points for Katahdin of Sherman Station. Jordan Cullen and Brian Sullivan added 10 points each.
