OLD TOWN – Every lap counts, every step matters, at the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Old Town. Get involved in the area’s 10th annual Relay For Life by joining volunteers and staff at a relay rally 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Pendleton Street School in Brewer.

Relay For Life is a family-oriented team event with participants running or walking in half-hour shifts around a track for 24 hours. Team members camp out in tents at the track, and when it’s not their turn, they enjoy fun activities. Highlights include the survivors’ lap and the luminaria ceremony.

The relay will be held at Old Town High School 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 16-17. To join the planning committee, become a team captain, volunteer or find out more, attend the rally. Teams can represent families, clubs, churches, neighborhoods and businesses celebrating “survivorship.” They agree there will be no finish line until a cure is found.

Sponsors include Adelphia, Dead River, Georgia Pacific, WVII-TV, Z-109, Guilford of Maine, Sam’s Club, Shop ‘n Save and ZF Lemforder. To learn more about the event, call Mike Hart at 989-0332.
