Pike powers Lubec to OT win

LUBEC – LeAnn Pike poured in 25 points to lead the Lubec girls basketball team to a 62-60 overtime victory over East Grand Wednesday in high school action.

Savannah McPherson racked up 21 points for the Hornets.

Amanda Godley led the Vikings of Danforth with 25 points. Marie Gilman chipped in with 15, and Paula Osnoe added 13.

At Lee, Gerry Worster nailed a driving layup with 50 seconds remaining to give the Pandas a lead for good.

Jeremy Tripp hit a 3-pointer a minute earlier to give Lee a 53-51 lead, its first since the first quarter. The Cougars’ Tom Rodgerson then answered with a basket of his own to knot the score at 53. After Worster’s hoop, he and Tripp each sunk a pair of clutch free throws to ice the game.

Neil Cowan led Lee with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Worster finished with 12. Kris King netted 13 points, and Jason Mallett hauled down 12 rebounds.

Tom Rodgerson had six 3-pointers and ended up with a game-high 26 points for Katahdin of Sherman Station. Jordan Cullen and Brian Sullivan added 10 points each.

Joe Caparrelli scored one goal and had two assists. Ethan Annis and Derek Smith scored one goal apiece. Mike Freese and Billy Moriarity added an assist each. Jon Catell made 26 saves on 28 shots for 2-8 Foxcroft.

Andy Pease led the 2-10 Indians with a goal and an assist. Nathan Cates scored a goal and J.P. Stowe stopped 36 of 41 shots.
