GREENVILLE – The sixth annual Ricky Craven Snowmobile Ride For Charity set new highs for both money raised and number of participants Saturday.
According to members of Craven’s family in Greenville, the event, which is held on Moosehead Lake, raised just more than $185,000 and attracted nearly 600 riders. This marks the largest one-year jump in proceeds in the event’s history as last year’s record total was $114,640.
The charitable event supports the Marrow Foundation (National Marrow Donor Program), Maine’s Children’s Miracle Network, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Travis Roy Foundation, and Give Kids the World.
The total amount of money raised over the last six years now totals $566,448.
Craven, a Newburgh native, competes on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit. He drives for the Tide team and will be competing in a new Pontiac when the NASCAR season opens with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 16.
