LUBEC – Abraham Beal scored eight of his 21 points in the fourth quarter Monday night as the Jonesport-Beals boys basketball team pulled off a fourth quarter rally to beat Lubec 67-66.

Derrick Beal scored a game-high 24 points and Jeremy Chandler added nine for the Royals.

Dylan Lord’s 20 points and Chris Jones’ 17 led the Hornets. Jordan Hall tossed in 15 points and Brian Scoville chipped in with 12.

At Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, Mark Gaudet scored eight third-quarter points as Valley High of Bingham extended the lead to 13 and he added six more in the fourth to stymie a fierce Pirate rally.

PCHS closed to within three late in the game but failed on three opportunities to close the gap even further.

Gaudet finished with a game-high 25 points, Lucas Melcher had 11 and Kevin Miller contributed 10 points for the 14-0 Cavaliers, the defending five-time State Class D champs.

Tyler Tracy’s 19 points, Joe Jardine’s 15 and Harper Hoffman’s 10 paced PCHS.

Joey Carmichael had 17 points for the winners while Hopkins and Adam Sheehan contributed 13 apiece.

Spencer Garton’s game-high 20 points paced Searsport. He also grabbed 10 rebounds. Josh McFarlin chipped in with 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Marcus Quisenberry and Matt Nickerson combined for 18 more.
