Sailors of the Year

BANGOR – Petty Officer 1st Class David Cyr of Brewer and Petty Officer 2nd Class Ian Lansberry were selected as Naval Reserve Center Bangor’s Sailors of the Year for 2002.

Cyr of is a drilling reservist, and Lansberry a full-time staff member stationed at NRC Bangor. The Sailor of the Year is presented to the sailor who best exemplifies the Navy Core Values.

Commissions

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Anthony Caristi was recently commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. The son of Maureen Caristi of Bangor and Peter and Rosa Caristi of Hermon, he is undergoing navigator training at Randolph Air Force Base.

Promotions

CHERRY POINT, N.C. – Marine Corps Cpl. Ryan McDougall, son of Janet Young of Orono, was promoted to corporal while serving with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station. He is a 1998 graduate of Old Town High School.

QUANTICO, Va. – Marine Corps Cpl. Dale Bragg Jr., a 1998 graduate of Old Town High School, recently was promoted to corporal while serving with Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base.

WAIMANALO? Hawaii – Herbert Frost III has been selected for promotion to staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is an operations controller assigned to the 15th Support Group at Bellows Air Force Station. A 1998 graduate of Hampden Academy, Frost is the son of Herbert Frost of Hampden and Susan Frost of Bangor.

CHERRY POINT, N.C. – Marine Corps Capt. Scott Cormier, a 1994 graduate of Old Town High School, was promoted to captain and reported for duty with Marine Tactical and Electronic Warfare Squadron One, Marine Aircraft Group 14, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C.

. Air Force Airman Roger C. Cole Jr. He is the son of Sharon Cole of Southbridge, Mass., and Roger Cole of Milford, Cole is a 2002 graduate of Old Town High School.

. Air National Guard Airman Lynette Evans. She is the granddaughter of Ruth Urquhart of Bangor and a 1987 graduate of Bangor High School.

. Air National Guard Airman Kenneth Dowling. He is the son of Carole and Bruce Dowling of Holden and 2001 graduate of Brewer High School.

. Air Force Airman Stanley Candage. A 2002 graduate of Hermon High school, he is the son of Brenda and Donald Candage of Carmel.

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. – Recent graduates of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot include:

. Marine Corps Pvt. Matthew Schaefer, son of Cheryl Schaefer of Bangor and Thomas Schaefer of Orrington. He is a 2002 graduate of Orono High School.

. Marine Corps Pfc. Cristin Lydick. A 2002 graduate of Bangor High School, she is the daughter of Peggy George of Eddington and Cressey Brazier of Holden.

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Army Pvt. Anthony Haines has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning. A 2002 graduate of Brewer High School, Haines is the son of Carolyn Griffiths of Eddington.
