WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud was appointed Wednesday to the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. The committee has jurisdiction over laws concerning veterans, including increased health care, disability compensations, GI bill education and job training, home loan guarantees, life insurance policies and a nationwide system of veterans’ cemeteries.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud was appointed Wednesday to the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. The committee has jurisdiction over laws concerning veterans, including increased health care, disability compensations, GI bill education and job training, home loan guarantees, life insurance policies and a nationwide system of veterans’ cemeteries.

“I’m so pleased with this latest assignment,” Michaud said. “We have serious issues with Togus veterans hospital, and I look forward to working to improve access to health care for Maine veterans,” Michaud said.

Rep. Christopher Smith, R-N.J., will chair the committee, and Rep. Lane Evans, D-Ill., will serve as the ranking Democratic member on the committee.
