HERMON – Kyle Jones’ eight-foot baseline jumper with 17 seconds left proved to be the game-winner Thursday night as Mount Desert Island avenged an earlier loss to Hermon with a 55-54 schoolboy basketball victory over the Hawks.
Hermon missed a 10-footer with two seconds left in a game featuring four lead changes in the last two minutes.
Jake King led MDI with 18 points and Jones had 13.
Jesse Keith had 13 points while Adam Porter had 12 points and nine rebounds for Hermon. Joey Schacht and Ron Lane each scored 10 points.

At Harrington Wednesday, Jared Gray scored 19 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter, including eight of his 11 free throws and all three of his 3-pointers as his Raiders picked up a key win.
Gray was 11 for 11 at the free throw line for Washington Academy of East Machias, who hit 23 of 28 free throws in the game, and the Knights went 17 of 25. Whitney Stevens tossed in 30 points, nine of which came in the fourth, all on free throws.
Jason Strout notched 24 points and Jamie Bailey poured in 23 to spark the Knights attack. Zach Worcester chipped in with 12 points and Corey Skeate 11, respectively.
