There are some inaccuracies in the Jan. 25-26 article about milk prices. If the minimum wholesale price is $2.26 and farmers are paid $1.10, does this not leave the wholesaler $1.16 rather than the 40 cents as stated? This seems to indicate the wholesalers are doing the gouging rather than the retailers. Business as usual.
Also, the farmers are charged for trucking from the farm to the processing plant out of what little they are paid. I was told 60 years ago by a government official that small farmers and mom and pop stores were not needed or wanted and would be driven out of business. It looks like they are doing just that.
