ELLSWORTH – A tax abatement hearing for a tennis facility on Route 1 has been continued to next month.
Susan Scherbel, owner of Ellsworth Tennis Center, has appealed the tax bill she received from the city last year, according to Ellsworth City Assessor Larry Gardner.
Gardner said Scherbel is contending the assessment of the 33,000-square-foot building should be $943,000. Gardner said his assessment of the facility, which opened in December 2001, places its value at $1,878,200.
The hearing will resume at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.
