Hampden beats Brewer for 12th

BREWER – The Hampden Academy Broncos took a 10-point halftime lead en route to a 48-41 schoolgirl basketball victory over the Brewer Witches Monday night.

Kim Stephenson paced the winners with 13 points and Jill Beal added 12.

Amy Freeman led Brewer with 10 points and Katie Harris chipped in with nine.

At Jonesport, Whitney Stevens scored 18 points to help Washington Academy of East Machias win the Downeast Athletic Conference championship.

Jared Gray contributed 12 points for the Raiders while James Ramsdell added 11.

Abraham Beal led the scoring for Jonesport-Beals with 16 points while Ben Durkee and Derrick Beal had 15 apiece.
