AUGUSTA – A company that bought the assets of Biddeford Textile is moving its corporate offices from Florida to Biddeford, Gov. John Baldacci and officials of Microlife Corp. announced Wednesday.

In moving to Maine, Microlife will bring five executive positions with it. In addition, Microlife has decided to consolidate its U.S. medical-products business in Biddeford.

Microlife is the world’s leading maker of digital thermometers and also makes blood-pressure-monitoring and other medical devices.

After Biddeford Textile filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection two years ago, a majority of the company’s assets were purchased by Microlife, its largest unsecured creditor.

As part of the $5.8 million reorganization, the Maine business was renamed Biddeford Blankets. About 240 jobs were saved as a result of the transaction.

Microlife manufactures heat control devices used in Biddeford Blankets heating blankets.

Microlife, a publicly traded Taiwanese company, has invested more than $20 million to revitalize Biddeford Blankets. The company produces heating blankets and warming wraps.
