Bangor trips up St. Dom’s Hampden’s Taylor notches 100th point

BANGOR – T.J. Vanidestine scored the game-winning goal 4:15 into overtime, with an assist from Jason Eremita, to lift the Bangor Rams to a 3-2 high school hockey verdict over Saint Dominic Saturday at Sawyer Arena.

Nick Payson scored a goal and had an assist while Ben Payson had two assists and Ben Silver added a goal. Aaron Buzzell made 41 saves on 43 shots for the Rams.

Shawn Longley scored both goals for St. Dominic of Auburn while Zack Tyburski and Mike Carpenter picked up assists. Brandon Gervais made 22 saves on 25 shots.

Hampden 7, Presque Isle 3

At the Northern Maine Forum in Presque Isle, Hampden’s Greg Taylor recorded two assists to reach the 100-point career mark and helped the Broncos roll by the Wildcats.

Adam Standley paced the 15-3 winners with two goals and two assists while Chris Bearor chipped in with three assists and Mike Brown added two.

Kevin Brooks, Jason Huntley, Steve Boutin, Andy Caldwell, and Chris Pease each added a goal for the winners. Garrett Macgowen made 16 saves on 19 shots.

Joe Collins scored two goals for 13-3 Presque Isle and Corey Collins added one. Tom Gregg, Trevor Graves and Joe Flenner each chipped in with an assist and goalies Sean Daigle and Travis Shaw combined for 20 saves.

Class A boys basketball

Bangor 65, Nokomis 63 (2OT)

At Newport, Anthony DeRosa scored with two seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift the Rams to the win in regular season action.

Wes Day led the scoring for Bangor with 24 points while Aaron Gallant added 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Kevin Flynn also had 10 points.

Ryan McLellan led the Nokomis effort with 30 points while Luke Hayden contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds. Arnie Ellis chipped in with 10 rebounds.

Blanchard paced the Wildcats with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Kylan Smith chipped in with 12 points.

Emmy Russell led Hampden with 13 points and Jill Beal netted 10.
