BROOKLINE, Mass. – Senior center Sarah Walsh became the first Colby women’s basketball player to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in a career as Colby defeated Newbury 68-47 in women’s basketball action Tuesday night.

Walsh scored 22 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and had six assists to lead Colby. Wendy Bonner chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds and Bianca Belcher put in 13 points.

At Gorham, Jess Libby scored 15 points and had 12 rebounds and eight assists to help lead the University of Southern Maine past the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

Nikki Allen and Tiffany Jonees each added 14 points for Southern Maine and Katie Frost had four steals.

Andreen Gilpin netted 14 points with 21 rebounds and Jamila Gales had 15 points with 13 rebounds for the UMass Boston. Elmina Darville added 10 points.

At Gorham, freshman Quinn Fulcher drained a 3-pointer from the baseline with 55 seconds left in overtime to give University of Southern Maine their first win in seven games by edging the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

Jason Levecque of Westbrook led the Huskies with 34 points and six rebounds. Ryan Soucie of Caribou scored 14 for the Huskies.

Billy Allen led UMB with 35 points. Roger Perry had 16 and Eric Summerville had 13.

DePaul 77, East Carolina 63

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Sam Hoskin had 22 points and 12 rebounds Tuesday as DePaul beat East Carolina 77-63.

Drake Diener added 15 points and Marlon London had 10 for DePaul (14-8, 6-5 Conference USA), which shot 53 percent in the second half to take control of the contest.

Derrick Wiley had 18 points to lead East Carolina (12-11, 3-9). Gabriel Mikulas added 14.

The Pirates led early, 18-12, before the Blue Demons went on a 21-11 run in the last 10 minutes of the first half for a 33-29 lead at the break.

DePaul opened the second half with a 16-5 run, taking a 49-34 lead.
